FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1. Who Can Participate?

Any flag football team with players that are 18 years of age or older are eligible to participate.  Each member of the team must sign an event waiver before they will be allowed to play on the field. We suggest that those with health concerns check with their doctor before participating.

2. How much does it cost?

The minimum donation per team is $1,500 to participate in the Music City Blitz.

3. Why do you ask for $100 before team spot is reserved?

At this time we will only register a total of 40 teams for the one-day tournament. By raising $100, you secure a place in one of the Division slots. By asking teams to raise a minimum of $100 to secure your spot, it allows your team to raise funds or schedule fundraising events in order to reach the minimum fundraising amount of $1,500.

4. Can we submit the minimum fundraising fee of $1,500?

Yes. By submitting the $1,500, your team will be completely registered and will owe nothing on the day of the tournament. Special Olympics would prefer teams to raise funds to help share the mission of Special Olympics and create more excitement and energy around the Music City Blitz with your family, friends and coworkers.

5. Can we raise more than the $1,500 minimum?

Absolutely! We encourage teams to raise additional funds because all money raised goes directly to supporting Special Olympics Tennessee's mission and helping the over 16,000 Special Olympics athletes in Tennessee. We also encourage teams to continue fundraising because incentives/prizes will be given for the top two teams, top three individual fundraisers and for each person that raises $150, $300 or over $500. 6. What happens if all the Divisions are full?

If all the slots are full, your name will be placed on a Wait List and you will be called if we have a cancellation. PLEASE NOTE, TEAMS ON THE WAIT LIST MAY BE CONTACTED UP UNTIL A WEEK BEFORE THE TOURNAMENT.

7. Can we register on the day of the tournament?

No, unless slots are available in your division.

8. Can we bring additional donations to the tournament?

​Yes! We welcome teams to continue fundraising up to the day of the tournament. We will accept any donations and add them to your final tally.

9. Can we bring family and friends to watch?

Yes. Spectators may attend FREE of charge. However, due to security and insurance reasons spectators may not go on the field. Spectators will be able to view the game from a designated stand seating area directly. 

 

10. Can we wear our team uniform?

Teams are encouraged to wear identifiable team uniforms appropriate for the sport and weather conditions. Check the weather the day of the tournament and bring extra jerseys, socks, shoes, gloves, etc. All uniforms or shirts must have numbers.

11. Where is parking available?

Free parking is available in Lot C of Nissan Stadium. Players will enter Nissan Stadium via the East Concourse at Gate #1.

 

12. Can we bring coolers into the stadium?

No, only water bottles or sport drinks are allowed in the stadium. There will be food available for the players, officials and event staff. Concession stands will be open for spectators to purchase food or they may tailgate. Each player will receive a $10 voucher for lunch.

 

13. When do the games start?

First games will start at 10:00 a.m. Opening Ceremony will start at 9:15 a.m. Teams need to be on the field for Opening Ceremony at the Home Tunnel at 8:45 a.m. Four games will be played on the field simultaneously, with each game lasting 30 minutes in length. The Captain will be sent a schedule the week of tournament. Teams should arrive 90 minutes before their first scheduled game to allow time to park, change clothes and warm up.

 

14. What is the role of the Team Captain?

The Team Captain makes sure all players have signed a waiver and registered their team information; hands in all donations due and any additional monies; picks up team incentive gifts and information on day of the tournament. Captains should plan to arrive at the stadium earlier than their scheduled games to check in and attend a short meeting before the tournament begins. (Mandatory!)

15. What is the format for the games?

The format is 5v5 with no blocking or contact. Full Rules

 

16. Is this a contact or no contact flag football tournament?

There is no contact or blocking allowed. The tournament is a fundraiser so a majority of the teams do not play on a regular basis and are coming out to support Special Olympics Tennessee. If you want to play competitively then please register for the Competitive Division (Top Gun).

 

17. How will the Champion of a Division be determined?

Pool play games will determine who will play in the playoff bracket to determine a champion and runner up. Awards will be given to the first and second place teams in each division.

18. How can my company get involved?

Monetary and in-kind support is always needed to operate an event of this size. Your company can get involved in any number of ways, here are some ideas:

  • Become a Music City Blitz Tournament Event Sponsor

  • Form a corporate Music City Blitz team with up to 15 players

19. Are there souvenirs for sale?

There will be a limited amount of logoed items available for purchase.

 

20. Will there be food available for spectators to purchase?

Concessions stands will be open for spectators to purchase food from a select menu. Players, officials and volunteers will be provided a $10 concession voucher separately, but can then join their family and friends to eat. You can also tailgate but please review and follow the guidelines for tailgating located on the Nissan Stadium website.

21. If I don't want to play, can I still come and volunteer?

Yes!  If you would like to register to volunteer for the event just click HERE!  Once you register to volunteer, our volunteer coordinator for the event will contact you and figure out where we can best utilize you!

22. Inclement weather policy?

Special Olympics Tennessee, The Tennessee Titans and Nissan Stadium reserve the right to cancel or suspend outdoor field usage if field conditions could result to injury to players or damage the fields. In the instance of inclement weather, games could be shortened, postponed or moved to another facility.
